How Processed Are Popular Indian Food Brands?

Nutrition experts recommend limiting or avoiding ultra-processed foods (UPFs), as they are generally unhealthy. Simply put, ultra-processed foods are those that contain ingredients you wouldn’t usually find in a home kitchen — such as maltodextrin or dextrose.

The NOVA classification system categorizes food products into four groups based on their level of processing:

1 - Unprocessed or minimally processed foods
2 - Processed culinary ingredients
3 - Processed foods
4 - Ultra-processed foods

This dynamic chart uses crowd-sourced data from Open Food Facts (OFF) for product information.

The determination of the NOVA group is based on the category of the product and on the ingredients it contains.
