The Bharat Brand is a government initiative aimed at providing essential goods, including food grains, to the middle class in India at subsidised prices.

The Bharat Brand has been expanding its range of offerings. Initially, it featured products like Bharat Atta (wheat flour), Bharat Rice, and Bharat Dal (chana dal). More recently, Phase 2 of the initiative saw the launch of Chana Whole and Bharat Masur Dal.

The distribution of Bharat Brand products is primarily carried out through government-backed cooperatives. NCCF utilises its network of 28 branches across India, along with mobile vans, retail outlets, and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) for distribution. NAFED and Kendriya Bhandar are also key players in making these products available to consumers.

A key feature of the Bharat Brand is the subsidised pricing of its products, making them significantly lower than those of other market players. The prices of some key commodities under the Bharat Brand are as follows:

  • Bharat Rice: ₹340 per 10 kg (₹290 when launched)
  • Bharat Atta: ₹300 per 10 kg
  • Chana Dal: ₹70 per kg
  • Chana Whole: ₹58 per kg
  • Moong Dal: ₹107 per kg
  • Bharat Moong Sabut: ₹93 per kg
  • Bharat Masur Dal: ₹80 per kg
