Indian Food Composition Tables (IFCT 2017)

Food composition datasets (FCDBs) or food composition tables are resources that provide detailed food composition data (FCD) on the nutritionally important components of foods.

A list of International FCDBs can be found on the National Food Institute - Technical University of Denmark's (DTU) website and in this Cronometer article.

The Ciqual nutritional composition table is the official source of the nutritional values of foods commonly consumed in France. Since its last update in 2019, it features data on over 2,800 items.

Similar to other official national nutrition databases, the National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN) in Hyderabad publishes food composition data for various foods in India. The first Indian FCT was brought out in the year 1937. Since then NIN has been constantly updating the compositional database of Indian foods.

The Indian Food Composition Tables - IFCT 2017, available as a physical book and PDF, provides nutritional information on 151 discrete food components for 528 key foods commonly consumed in India.
